After controlling the pandemic, China supports coronavirus research
China said it supports the creation, after the pandemic subsides, of a commission led by the World Health Organization (WHO) to assess the global response to the new coronavirus.
Chinese President Xi Jinping said that if his country discovers a COVID-19 vaccine, it will make it a global public good, and he promised $ 2 billion over two years for the global fight against COVID-19. China is in favor of a comprehensive assessment of the global response to the new coronavirus once the epidemic has been brought under control, the president said, during the WHO annual meeting.
In a speech broadcast via video in Geneva, Xi said that his country, where the coronavirus made its appearance in late 2019, always showed transparency and responsibility in the face of the epidemic.
The meeting of the World Health Assembly (WHA), the WHO's decision-making body, seeks to coordinate the response to the coronavirus pandemic, a meeting under threat of direct confrontation between the United States and China.
