Scientists, say coronavirus can be transmitted simply by talking
The new coronavirus can be transmitted when people speak and breathe, said a senior US chief scientist.
Transmission by air would explain the high contagion rate that the virus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic apparently has, since it seems that infected but asymptomatic people are responsible for a large part of the infections.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and adviser to President Donald Trump during the pandemic, said on Fox News that reports indicate that the virus can actually be transmitted even when people are simply talking, not just when they cough or sneezes
The American academies of science detailed in a letter sent to the White House where several preliminary scientific results that tip the balance towards the possibility that the virus is transmitted through the air in which people breathe, and not only by the drops issued in a sneeze directly to other people's faces or on surfaces where it was shown that the virus can survive hours and days, according to the material.
Currently available research papers raise the possibility that SARS-CoV-2 may be transmitted by bioaerosols generated directly by patient expiration, wrote Harvey Fineberg, chairman of the committee for emerging infectious diseases, in the letter on behalf of the academies and reviewed by many other experts.
