United States, with more deaths from COVID-19

The new coronavirus pandemic has caused at least 1,119,590 deaths in the world since the WHO office in China reported the appearance of the disease in December, according to a balance established by AFP on Tuesday based on official sources.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 40,416,800 people have contracted the disease. Of these, at least 27,791,000 were recovered, according to authorities.

On Monday 4,523 new deaths and 367,553 infections were registered in the world. The countries that registered the most deaths according to the latest official balances are India with 587, Argentina (449) and the United States (420).

The number of deaths in the United States amounts to 220,134 with 8,215,578 infections. The authorities consider that 3,272,603 ​​people were healed.

After the United States, the countries with the most fatalities are Brazil with 154,176 deaths and 5,250,727 cases, India with 115,197 deaths (7,597,063 cases), Mexico with 86,338 deaths (854,926 cases) and the United Kingdom with 43,726 deaths (741,212 cases ).

Among the hardest hit countries, Peru has the highest mortality rate, with 103 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Belgium (90), Bolivia (73) and Spain (73).

China, without taking into account the territories of Hong Kong and Macao, registered a total of 85,704 infected people, of which 4,634 died and 80,812 were fully healed.
